The Members of Pomerado Community Band Welcome You to the



The Pomerado Community Band celebrates its 15th anniversary this April and members will proudly host the eleventh annual Community Band Festival under the Gazebo in Old Poway Park this May.  Over 14 bands from Southern California and Arizona are scheduled to attend the festival.  This year, the final concert on Sunday will be a performance by the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra. If you enjoy concert band music, you won't want to miss this festival of music!  The festival will be held, May 21 & 22, 2005.



 The Pomerado Community Concert Band was organized to provide wind and percussion musicians with an opportunity improve to their musical skills and encourage a sense of community by performing at local events.  Members are volunteer musicians from San Diego and North County communities.



 The band is a non-profit organization supported by performance ticket sales, performance honoraria, and donations.  The group performs at least three formal concerts each year including an early spring, fall and December Holiday Concert.  In addition, the band performs summer concerts under Old Poway Park"s beautiful Gazebo and various community events including the Poway July 4th Celebration.



About our Director



The Pomerado Community Band is extremely fortunate to perform under the inspired direction of Dean Hickman.  For over 12 years Dean has shared with us his passion for music and teaching.  That passion was recognized and celebrated when Dean was presented the 2000-2001 San Diego County Teacher of the Year award.



 Dean is a dedicated music educator in his 27th year of teaching with the San Diego School District.  He currently serves as the band director at Wangenheim Middle
