The Members of Pomerado Community Band Welcome You to the 2004 Spring Concert

The Pomerado Community Band will celebrate its 14th anniversary this April

and members will proudly host the tenth annual Community Band Festival under

Old Poway Park’s Band Gazebo in May. Over 14 bands from Southern California

and Arizona are scheduled to attend the festival. The MCRD Marine Band and

the 40th Infantry Division Band are scheduled for this year’s festival.

If you enjoy concert band music, you won’t want to miss this festival

of music! The festival will be held Armed Forces Weekend, May 15 & 16,

2004.

The Pomerado Community Concert Band was organized to provide wind and percussion

musicians an opportunity improve to their musical skills and encourage a sense

of community by performing at local events. Members are volunteer musicians

from San Diego and North County communities.

The band is a non-profit organization supported by performance ticket sales,

performance honoraria, and donations. The group performs at least three formal

concerts each year including an early spring, fall and December Holiday Concert.

In addition, the band performs summer concerts under Old Poway Park’s

beautiful band gazebo and various community events including the Poway July

4th Celebration.

About our Director

The Pomerado Community Band is extremely fortunate to perform under the inspired

direction of Dean Hickman. For over 12 years Dean has shared with us his passion

for music and teaching. That passion was recognized and celebrated when Dean

was presented the 2000-2001 San Diego County Teacher of the Year award.

Dean is a dedicated music educator in his 27th year of teaching with the San

Diego School District. He currently serves as the band director at Wangenheim

Middle School. Dean holds his Master’s Degree in Education from USIU

(1982) and serves as adjudicator for the Southern California School Band and

Orchestra Association.
