Pomerado Community Band

 In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we’ve put together a program of our favorite pieces to play for you!  Maybe one of them is your favorite as well! 

Our Clarinet section chose Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro (watch their fingers fly!); Gustov Holst’s First Suite in E-flat gives the low brass an opportunity to fill the hall and rattle the floor boards, Shenandoah is such a beautiful melodic feature for the French horns, and we all voted for the soulful Hymnsong of Phillip Bliss which features our singing tympanist!

Every section will sparkle in the spotlight during the medley pieces (Porgy and Bess, Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Salute to American Jazz), but the trumpets, saxophones and percussion are especially sparkly!

 
As if playing our favorites isn’t enough excitement, we are also debuting a brand new piece!  Our conductor, Dean Hickman, has written Mourning Prayers, and he’ll share the beautiful tribute story before we play it.
 

At only $8.00 per ticket, this performance is a wonderfully affordable opportunity for families and community members to enjoy a full Concert Band performance.  Tickets are available from all Band Members and at the door.  For ticket information contact Band President, Lori Calabrese (858) 391-7309.

The Pomerado Community band, under the direction of Mr. Dean Hickman, is comprised of 60 wind and percussion musicians from the San Diego Community.  We are a non-profit corporation that welcomes new members.
