Pomerado Community Band

Pomerado Community Band was formed in the Spring of 1990. A study conducted by Debbie Olson was submitted to the City of Poway Department of Community Services. The study indicated there was strong community interest in favor of formation of a community band. An organizational meeting was held in February, 1990 and the band began weekly rehearsals with 20 musicians in attendance on April 30, 1990. The first rehearsal was directed by Mr. Dean Hickman who continues serving Pomerado Community Band as Director in addition to his position directing band, orchestra, and teaching the students at Wangenheim Middle School in San Diego community of Mira Mesa.
